The Tauranga business was set up in 1999. It was inspired by the raw meat concept and the belief that pet owners needed food options for their pets. Pet Essentials has evolved from the desire to ensure that your pets have the best possible opportunity to receive the best foods and accessories available in the market today.

In 2012 we joined an independent buying group operating out of Australia called Indepet which has many members in Australia and a growing number of independent pet stores members in New Zealand. This enables us to continue to offer you pet accessories at prices which are amongst the most competitive you will find plus ongoing specials that you will find useful.

Amanda

Amanda started working at Pet Essentials part time while still at school and after attending polytech courses she is now fulltime. Amanda has 6 dogs, 2 cats, 2 lovebirds, 6 ducks and 2 sheep so has extensive first hand knowledge about pets! She competes in agility shows with 3 of her dogs Sketch, Sayge & Pixie which they all love!

Maria

Maria has joined the Tauranga team from Christchurch. There she worked in one of the other shops in the Indepet Group and comes with a wealth of experience to join our team. As well as her and her Husband Don’s family of twin boys, they have 8 dogs and many fish so Maria can help our customers with most enquiries regarding pets. Maria has a very dangerous dog obsession (especially with pugs!).

Sinead

Sinead has always loved animals and has fish, a cat (Frank), a chihuahua (Libby) and a Lab X (Kodi). She dreams of having a small senior pet sanctuary one day. She is passionate about all animals and is happy to impart advice when needed.

Anya

Anya joined the team in October 2016 and has completed an animal care course. She has also had previous experience in grooming as well as working at her family's kennels and cattery. She currently has 2 Griffons (Lulu & Poppy) & 1 Westie (Walter).
