Pet Essentials has evolved from the desire to ensure that your pets have the best possible opportunity to receive the best foods and accessories available in the market today.

Food we sell for your dogs and cats covers the range of raw meat varieties through to super premium dried foods.

The Tauranga business was set up in 1999 by Peter & Wendy because we were impressed by the fresh raw meat concept and believed that people deserved to have food options for their pet available to all in a one stop shop.

Being part of he Pet Essentials group of owner-operated stores spread throughout the North Island enables us to keep abreast of the increasing demand from our customers for raw meat feeding with new formulations to entice your pet – not to mention the goodness contained for a healthier pet.

In 2012 we joined an independent buying group operating out of Australia called Indepet which has many members in Australia and a growing number of independent pet stores members in New Zealand. This enables us to continue to offer you pet accessories at prices which are amongst the most competitive you will find plus ongoing specials that you will find useful.

We and our staff are avid pet lovers who are here to help you with anything pet related.

Amanda

Amanda started working at Pet Essentials part time while still at school and after attending polytech courses she is now fulltime. Amanda has 4 dogs, 2 cats, 1 rabbit, 1 budgie, 1 cockatiel, 2 ducks and 2 fish so has extensive first hand knowledge about pets! She is into agility training and is doing well at that.

Maria

Maria has come up to Tauranga from Christchurch. There she worked in one of the other shops in the Indepet Group and so comes with a wealth of experience to join our team. As well as her and her Husband Don’s family of twin boys, they have 7 dogs, 2 cats and many fish so Maria can help our customers with most enquiries regarding pets. Maria has a very dangerous dog obsession (especially with pugs!).

Emma

Emma joined the team straight out of high school. She came from a dairy farm background just out of Hamilton so along with a large number of cows, she also has 2 dogs, 1 cat and 2 fish.
